A believer will not commit a sin except that his heart is riven by sadness, in contrast to the misguided who does not only dare to sin but also he feels enjoyment in his disobedience.
When self-accounting awakens, the worshipping slave reaches the state of repentance.
Tearful, humiliated, scared and fearful.
His sin keeps him awake at night, unable to find rest in his bed.
His loneliness and darkness of solitude, accompanied with:
That tear of a repenter welling up in his eye whenever his thought takes him back to those sins. And a scene of the past appears before him.
Then a scream shouting from between his sleepy eyelids to awaken the wellness of conscience.
How pure is the taste of repentance, and how beautiful is the life beneath its shadows?
It takes the person out of the arduousness and travail to the blissful life.
Could he talk about what happened to him, his eyes would cry tears of blood.
How precious and great is the fruit of that tear. Our prophet ﷺ said:
«There are two eyes that shall not be touched by the Fire: An eye that wept from the fear of Allah (..)».
O son of Ādam, no matter how much you disobey, never surrender to the sin for it will not lead you towards hope. Rather; it will make you witless, confused, and out of your mind.
Forget the past and proceed to the future.
And hold tightly to ALLAH, for holding tightly to ALLAH is the rescue for those who repent. { And whoever holds firmly to Allah has [indeed] been guided to a straight path }
The memory of committing that sin will always remain in the worshipper's mind and thought. For not even enemies have harmed the ignorant sinner the way he has harmed himself!
<Afflicted I am with four inseparable trials
With arrows, their traps are built for me
From them, how would I set myself free?
Iblees, the dunyā, my self and desires
My Lord, aid me and keep me safe
For you are the only hope I aspire>
There will be days when you become overwhelmed wanting to escape from sinning, trying to hold back your tears.
It will seem like sins are following you wherever you go, dragging behind your footsteps wherever you stay.
Until you become dry like an old wilted wooden piece.
Then your willingness and aspiration to repent will start to weaken and fade away.
And that heavy flood upon you will never stop until you decide to build a sturdy impenetrable dam before it.
<You disengage yourself from the sinners way-of-life
And then you give them a death glare>
Although your secret will have a teller and your speech will be spread out, you must come with honesty, sincerity and steadfastness.
Those are like ropes that a repenter tightens his heart with so that he can feel a luminous light between his wings shining with brightness and joy. And nothing disturbs him except the fear of his repentance to be shaken and taken away.
A repentant does not slap his cheeks, nor does he tear his clothes, nor does he follow the ways of jāhiliyyah (pre-Islam); rather he guards his sins against people and repents secretly.
Ibnul Qayyim said in Madāriju Sālikīn:
Repentance has three conditions:
To feel guilt, to stop the sin and to be remorseful.
Because the reality of repentance is to feel guilty about the past sin, to stop that sin, and to be determined to never come back to it in the future. And these three should be present during the time of repentance since during that time he regrets, refrains and determines”.
When fear from ALLAH increases the heart becomes more riven from the shortcomings and negligence. Thus the worshipper exerts himself towards his pursuit.
The prophet ﷺ said:
« He who is afraid of the pillage of the enemy sets out in the early part of the night; and he who sets out early reaches his destination. Be on your guard that the commodity of Allah is precious. Verily the commodity of Allah is Jannah ».
Repent to ALLAH, even if your sins have reached the sky, for ALLAH loves those who repent.
O ALLAH accept from us and accept us and forgive us and have mercy upon us.
